Reading Captains
The Reading Captains Campaign is a community-powered effort to make reading more visible, accessible, and exciting for children and families across Winchester. Reading Captains are trusted neighbors and community members who help connect families with books, literacy resources, and opportunities to read—right where they live. By bringing reading into neighborhoods and everyday community spaces, Reading Captains help build a culture where every child is encouraged to read, learn, and thrive.
What to Expect as a Reading Captain
Reading Captains serve as literacy connectors within their own communities. You’ll receive resources and support from the Winchester Campaign for Grade-Level Reading to help you share literacy opportunities with families and encourage reading where you live, work, worship, or connect with others.
