Literacy Volunteers has joined a national campaign of family literacy
in the community. We are the lead organization for The Winchester
Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, a collaborative effort by foundations,
nonprofit partners, business leaders, government agencies, states, and
communities across the nation to ensure that more children in low-income
families succeed in school and graduate prepared for college, a career, and
active citizenship.

The Winchester, Virginia CGLR is made possible by the John and Janice Wyatt Foundation (J2W Foundation.) The Foundation is intensely focused on creating equity and leveling the playing field for socially and economically disadvantaged children.
The Winchester, Virginia Campaign for Grade-Level Reading has a goal to double the number of 3rd graders reading at or above the proficient level in the next 10 years.
The School Readiness Committee, focusing on helping our Winchester children and families get more kindergarten-ready during those critical birth to 5 years, recently developed the "triple stack" strategy to offer home-based interventions to better meet families where they are.
